Relationships of Body Dissatisfaction and Self-Esteem with Social Physique Anxiety among University Students in Different Study Programs

Abstract The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships body dissatisfaction and self-esteem with social physique anxiety in students pursuing different subjects study. A total 219 aged 22 ± 1.9 years age participated; 78 were men 141 women. participants divided into two groups according their subject Group consisted 123 (56.2%) Department Physical Education & Sport Science, whose studies directly associated physical appearance. B 96 (43.8%) other departments. All completed scales: (a) Social Physique Anxiety, (b) Body Dissatisfaction (c) Self-Esteem. Correlation analysis indicated positive significant values between anxiety, mass index, a negative correlation self-esteem. Stepwise multiple linear regression as dependent variable across sample group revealed that significantly positively predicted by negatively For B, only dissatisfaction.
